Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3)
~$815 CAD · you buy it, not refunded · earns 21¢/kWh
What we like
- Highest published reward rate of the three programs
- You own the charger outright, with no deposit or return rules
- Fast 48A charging and a long 24 ft cable
- Works with Tesla and other NACS vehicles directly
Watch out for
- Highest upfront cost of the group
- NACS plug only: J1772 / CCS1 vehicles need an adapter (or the Universal model)
- Must be linked to a Tesla account to earn
Our verdict: The best charger for earning if your vehicle uses NACS. You pay more once, then keep every dollar of the top rate.
See WattsApp →
Tesla Universal Wall Connector
$945 CAD · you buy it, not refunded · earns 21¢/kWh
What we like
- One charger for NACS and J1772 / CCS1 vehicles
- Same top WattsApp rate as the Gen 3
- Integrated J1772 adapter, so no loose adapter to lose
- Future-proof if you change vehicles
Watch out for
- Costs about $130 more than the Gen 3
- Tesla lists it as out of stock and for Tesla owners only while supplies are limited, so availability needs checking
- Must be linked to a Tesla account to earn
Our verdict: The right pick for a Hyundai, Kia, Ford, GM or any other J1772 vehicle that wants the WattsApp rate. Confirm stock before you commit.

DashSharing Standard (40A)
$350 CAD · refundable deposit · earns 3¢, then 11¢/kWh
What we like
- Deposit comes back at 1,500 kWh
- Choose a J1772 or NACS cable
- Lifetime warranty while you are a member
- Rate rises to 11¢/kWh after the milestone
Watch out for
- Only 3¢/kWh until you reach 1,500 kWh
- You must return it if you leave before 1,500 kWh ($650 replacement fee if you do not)
- Charger locks after 20 offline sessions
Our verdict: A sensible middle path: small risk up front, and decent earnings once you pass 1,500 kWh.
See DashSharing →
DashSharing Ultra (48A)
$599 CAD · refundable deposit · earns 3¢, then 11¢/kWh
What we like
- 20% faster than the Standard model
- Same 11¢/kWh rate after 1,500 kWh
- Deposit is refunded at the milestone
- Lifetime warranty while a member
Watch out for
- Larger deposit ($599) is tied up until 1,500 kWh
- Needs a 60A breaker and a panel with room
- Same return rules if you leave early ($750 replacement fee)
Our verdict: Worth it only if your vehicle can use 48A and your panel supports it. Many EVs charge no faster than 40A, so check first.

Grizzl-E Classic Connect 40A
$100 CAD · refundable deposit (Essentials) · earns 3¢ rising to 10¢/kWh
What we like
- Only $100 deposit, refunded after your first connected session
- Canadian-made hardware
- No membership fee
- Rate never drops once you reach a tier
Watch out for
- Slowest earnings: starts at 3¢ and climbs 1¢ per 5,000 kWh
- Thanksgiving Bonus (+5¢) is for members who own their charger, not Essentials
- Sessions that do not upload are not credited
Our verdict: The easiest way in. Earnings are modest in the early years, so it suits patient, high-kWh households.
See Grizzl-E Club →
Grizzl-E Ultimate 48A
$100 CAD · refundable deposit (Essentials) · earns 3¢ rising to 10¢/kWh
What we like
- 48A charging for just a $100 refundable deposit
- Canadian-made hardware
- Own it outright and unlock the Thanksgiving Bonus (up to 15¢ total)
- Lifetime warranty while a member
Watch out for
- Same slow-climbing rate ladder as the Classic
- Hardwired install with a 60A breaker
- Outright purchase price is higher than a deposit (US list US$479.99)
Our verdict: The best value for speed if you want a nearly free fast charger. You trade away earnings for a tiny deposit.

All three are funded by Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations credit market. The difference is how much they pay, what you put down, and who owns the charger.

★ Our recommendation
WattsApp with a Tesla Wall Connector
If you want to get paid the most for charging at home, we recommend WattsApp. It pays 21¢ per kWh from the very first kWh, while DashSharing and Grizzl-E Club start at 3¢ to 5¢ and take thousands of kWh to climb. At 5,000 kWh a year, that is about $1,050 versus roughly $430 (DashSharing) or $150 to $250 (Grizzl-E Club).
- You own the charger from day one: no deposit tied up, no return rules, no lock-in.
- Up to $150 a year in Supercharging reimbursements on top of home-charging rewards.
- Our installers are Tesla Certified and set you up with WattsApp step by step.
- Get a $10 Tim Hortons gift card from EV Install Pro when we install your Tesla charger and sign you up.
- Not a Tesla driver? The Universal Wall Connector charges NACS and J1772 / CCS1 vehicles.
The honest tradeoff: WattsApp costs the most upfront (about $815 for the Gen 3 or $945 for the Universal, plus installation). At 5,000 kWh a year the charger could pay for itself in under a year, but only if rates hold. Rates can change, and nothing here is guaranteed. If a refundable deposit matters more to you than the top rate, DashSharing is our second choice.
How to choose
Upfront money
Can you spend $815 to $945 on a charger? If not, a refundable deposit program (DashSharing, Grizzl-E Club) gets you started for $100 to $599.
How much you charge
Programs pay per kWh. A household charging 8,000 kWh a year earns far more from a high rate than from a low one.
Your vehicle's plug
NACS vehicles plug straight into a Gen 3. J1772 / CCS1 vehicles want the Universal, or a program charger with a J1772 cable.
Your panel
A 48A charger needs a 60A breaker. Tight panels may need smart load management. We assess your panel on every visit.
Lock-in
Owning your charger (WattsApp) means no return rules. Loaned chargers come with conditions if you leave or move early.
Certification
Ontario inspections need a recognised mark (cUL, cETL or CSA). We check before we install.

Frequently asked questions
Which program pays the most?
On published rates, WattsApp pays the most: 21¢/kWh from the first kWh. DashSharing reaches 11¢/kWh after 1,500 kWh. Grizzl-E Club tops out at 10¢/kWh, or up to 15¢/kWh for members who own their charger and collect the Thanksgiving Bonus. The tradeoff is upfront cost: WattsApp needs a charger you buy, while DashSharing and Grizzl-E Club lend you one for a refundable deposit.
Can I be in more than one program with the same charger?
Generally no. These programs all claim the same Clean Fuel Regulations credits, so a charger should only be enrolled in one at a time. Check each provider's terms before switching.
Do I need a Tesla to use WattsApp?
WattsApp says its program is vehicle-agnostic. What you need is an eligible Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3 or Universal) linked to a Tesla account. Always confirm eligibility with WattsApp before buying a charger.
Will a Tesla charger work on my non-Tesla EV?
The Tesla Universal Wall Connector has a built-in J1772 adapter, so it charges NACS and J1772 / CCS1 vehicles. The Gen 3 Wall Connector is NACS only, so a J1772 vehicle needs an adapter.
Is the money guaranteed?
No. These programs are funded by Clean Fuel Regulations credit markets, and every provider can change rates. Treat the numbers as estimates, not guaranteed income.
Do you install these chargers?
Yes. Our ESA-licensed electricians install Level 2 chargers across Markham and York Region, including the chargers shown on this page. Installation is separate from the program deposit or charger cost.
Disclosure: EV Install Pro Markham has a partnership with WattsApp and offers a $10 Tim Hortons gift card to customers whose Tesla charger we install and who sign up. Rates, deposits and terms are taken from each provider's public pages as of October 2026 and change often. Dollar amounts are CAD unless noted. Earnings are estimates and are not guaranteed.
