Level 2 EV charger installation
A Level 2 charger runs on a dedicated 240V circuit and adds roughly 40 to 50 km of range per hour on a typical 40A circuit, enough to refill most daily driving overnight. It needs a permit, a correctly sized breaker and wire, and an inspection.
What is included
- Capacity check and written fixed-price quote
- ESA Notification of Work and inspection, Certificate of Acceptance
- Dedicated breaker, correctly sized wire and conduit, mounting and commissioning
- Help setting up your charger app
Choosing the circuit size
Electrical code treats EV charging as a continuous load, so the breaker is sized at 125% of the charger's continuous current: 32A needs a 40A breaker, 40A needs 50A and 48A needs 60A. A larger circuit is only worth it if your vehicle can accept the power and your panel has room, since bigger circuits mean thicker wire and more cost.
